Welcome to Burren in Bloom, our celebration of the wonderful wildlife of the Burren as it emerges into its full seasonal glory of orchids and gentians, bumblebees and butterflies.

7th to 9th June 2019

This year’s Burren in Bloom festival with a special focus on our pollinators promises to be our biggest and best yet. Come and explore how we can identify  enjoy and help these important species at a time when many of them are in crisis. We are delighted to be teaming up with our friends at the National Biodiversity Data Centre who co-ordinate the All Ireland Pollinator Plan.
There are just so many reasons to join us for a weekend of blooms.  Explore the Burren’s fascinating mosaic of limestone habitats, from orchid rich grasslands to sweeping pavements to turloughs, fens and petrifying springs. Meet the people who work with these habitats – farmers, ecologists, conservationists, public authorities – and discover areas of the Burren rarely open to the public.

Witnessing the colours, shapes, sounds, smells, and textures of nature first-hand in what is undoubtedly Ireland’s finest repository of native plants and animals is not merely an experience, it is a privilege.
When better to do this than in mid-summer when the Burren’s flora and fauna are at the height of their seasonal splendour.
This is also an excellent chance to meet the people who work with these habitats – farmers, ecologists, conservationists, public authorities – and discover areas of the Burren rarely open to the public.

We are delighted to be joined by some of Ireland’s foremost botanists and entomologists who will lead us in a series of walks, talks, workshops and exhibitions designed to inform and engage anyone with an interest in natural heritage. Most of the events are free while a few workshops require a modest fee. Discount will apply to Burrenbeo Trust members. We welcome any donation that can be made to the Burrenbeo Trust.
